CONTOUR
DRAWING
Because I like contour drawing I pick up my charcoal and follow your face
in one line
that travels across and over wiggling its nuanced way across the empty page.
I only look at your face and let my hand do its dance my eyes not watching
the face may jiggle this way and that but I like the way it takes on a new life
a fresh face
a line that is always searching for the true source
the real path
the core of the person inside
the line I push and pull it this way over here and then snap it back around the
nostrils
getting lost in the cavernous entry to the brain
the line enters
makes a turn
disappears only to be found again
tracing the nose with curved form.
Because I draw the face without looking at the page
I look into your eyes and search for the missing path the unmarked grooves to
work over. |
